i'm in college and i have a computer with a wirless connection. Can I connect an XBox 360 to a wireless network without having to buy the Xbox wireless receiver ?
Yes.
Using a crossover ethernet cable, connect the xbox 360 with your wireless computer.
From there, go into your connections (For my XP it's: Start->Connect To->Show all connections) and right click on your wireless network connection.
Go to properties and go to the 'advanced' tab. Check off the box that says 'Allow other network users to connect through this computer's internet connection.
Cick ok and restart your computer (this is a safety precaution, I didn't reboot mine and it worked fine).
Connect to XBOX Live and you're done.
Good Luck!

I already have a Linksys wireless router. Can I get a Linksys (or other USB receiver) or do I have to buy the XBox one. (XBox is twice the price).
Jeffrey C. is right. Get a game adapter/bridge (I've used linksys in the past and was happy) and you can get one for around $30 now. The MS one is more of a plug and play, whereas the linksys will take some monkeying around to set up, but it's also about $70 cheaper.
