What are the difference between the xbox system?
Tell me what this is?

I am buying my son an xbox system for christmas but I am, very confused about what to get! What are the difference between an xbox 360 pro and the xbo 360 arcade? Why does it come in different levels of ram(ie 256 mb)? Can I get memory cards for it? Help! Help! Help! I can not ask him the difference he will know I am getting the system!

I was just as confused at you were when the XBox 360 first launched. There are very subtle differences now with the XBox Arcade Version and the XBox 360 Pro Version.

The arcade version comes with a wireless controller, a 256 MB Memory Card (the "ram" that you mentioned earlier) and the standard AV connections for a television. But the only positive addition is that it is packaged with a disk that includes 5 XBox Arcade Games. (XBox Arcade Games usually require to be bought and dowloaded through the internet via a special wireless router, sold separately from the XBox). These games are:
1. Feeding Frenzy
2. Luxor 2
3. Boom Boom Rocket
4. Pac-Man Championship Edition
5. Uno

The Arcade Version is the cheapest version of the XBox, selling @ around $280.

On the other hand, Pro Version of the XBox has all the things the Arcade Version has (like the wireless controller and the TV cables), without the Arcade games listed above. It has a 20 GB detachable hard drive (about 40 times more than the Memory Card from the Arcade Version). The XBox uses this Hard Drive to save game data and all content downloaded from the Xbox Marketplace. But the Hard Drive itself has game demos, video clips and 1 XBox Arcade game, Hexic HD, a kind of puzzle game, already downloaded into it. And most of the Pro Versions include 2 full games: Marvel Ultimate Alliance and Forza: Motorsport. The Pro Version of the XBox is a little more costly, selling @ about $350. The extra 70 bucks is, of course, from the extra Memory it has.

Anyways, sorry for my answer being long-winded, but I tend to do that whenever it has to do with video games (i'm studying to become a game programmer). I hope this was helpful and I'll be happy to answer any other questions you have.

How do I find out which one of my Xbox 360 controllers is the one that came with my Xbox 360 system?
Xbox 360 MW3 & BF3

I have 2 controllers and one is broken and I want to know if i can send it in under the warranty of my Xbox system. Is there a barcode or something that I can compare to my system or the box my system came in?

first, im not sure if you can send back a controller to microsoft... but what the heck i dunno.

as for what kind of controller you have... there have only been two different kinds.

the first one had the old matrix circuitboard
the second is the new cg circuitboard.

now im doing this from memory so bear with me... if you take out the battery back you can actually see the green circuitboard on the back of the controller. it should be covered in little tiny letters and numbers. if you see t19 then its old matrix board.

its a pretty safe bet tho if u bought ur 360 more than a year and a half ago then ur controller has matrix board. if you recently bought the other controller then its prolly cg. just look for that T19.

hope this helps!

How to do a big xbox system link party (10 consoles)?
P3120422 - The Snake of Manguri (tm)

I'm curious if there is a way to hook up 10 xbox 360 consoles to each other. Is it possible to use a network switch and system link without an internet connection, or do you need a router if you want to go without internet?
In response to greg:
So, I can't have more than 4 xboxes without incorporating the internet?

With linking xboxs, i believe you could only connect up to 4 xboxes together to do 16 players total, otherwise u would need to set up another link. So that you have 1 set of 16 players and then another set of 16 players.

How do you get Xbox System Link to work?.?
New Setup Update Feb '12

I have 2 xbox's hooked together with a ethernet cable and no game will connect with system link. Do you HAVE to buy a special "xbox system link" cable or will a regular Ethernet cable work??

Ethernet cables will not work on a system link. It requires a Cat-6 Network Cable.

How can I make an xbox system link cable?
Halo Mega Bloks - Copper Covenant Brute

I am trying to make a home made Xbox system link cable because the ones you buy in the store are to short.
Also is there a way to make a 3 way hub? I need part names or a web site to go to.

Thanks for your help guys

You're right, the wires are too short. My dad's an electrician and he made an Ethernet cable for me that was about 200 feet long. However, to make it you need the wire, the two male end adapters and several other tools to make the ends go on correctly. To make a hub I just went out and bought a wireless router. There are five ports on the back of most if not all routers. One is for internet the other four are for additional computers. To make it work just plug in the router and take your Ethernet cables for system link and plug them in the back.

  • Buy Cheap

  • Unauthorised storage devices banhammered in next Xbox system ...

Hey guys! Facebook, Twitter, dedicated game stores, and all kinds of other totally awesome stuff is coming to your Xbox 360 with the next Xbox LIVE update! Let joy be unconfined! Oh, by the way, your cheap third-party storage devices are also going to be entirely invalidated too.

"When Preview Program members start receiving the Xbox 360 system update next week, one of the changes is that unauthorized Memory Units will no longer work with the Xbox 360," writes Larry "Major Nelson" Hyrb. "If you’ve moved your profile or saved games onto one to “back it up,” you’d better move it back onto an authorized Xbox 360 storage device prior to taking the update. If you continue to use an unauthorized Memory Unit after the update, you will not be able to access your stored profile or saved games. If you need help identifying officially licensed Xbox 360 storage devices or accessories you can read more about the licensed accessories program on Xbox.com."
