Xbox Messenger

In xbox live, i always see a message below that says " can't sign in to windows live messenger". What is windows live messenger and what does it do? Is it important for the xbox live?

I don't like being signed into messenger while playing, its distracting. Is there a way to stay signed out so i don't have to keep signing out when i log onto xbox live?

Yes. Open your guide button and go over to profile. Find auto sign in, click it, and disable auto for messenger. The next time you sign into Live, it won't automatically sign you into messenger.

No. Microsoft has not released any drivers for the chat-pad.

When I use xbox live messenger, my name is Catscratch.

I don't know why. How can I change it? I log onto windows live messenger (same account, but on my PC) and I can change my name, but it won't update my XBL messenger name.

Also, I seem to have a different (but similar) friends list on XBL messenger. The name and the friends list are both I had many months ago. I don't know why it's not updating.

i was having the same problems. anyways mine wont stay logged off while im online playing got anything to stop that?
