Xbox Dvd Repair

Ive recently sent my xbox 360 to be repaired because it couldnt read any sort of discs and didnt even try to. Ive just gotten an email saying they have recieved the console. I was just curious how long it would take them to repair the dvd drive or would they just give me another console?.... Plz help

My boyfriend and I have to send in out xbox360s all the time. So I'm sure of what they will do.
So, since you already sent it in, they will do one of two things. They'll either repair the xbox and send it back to you. Or put a new one in its place and send it to you.

But it takes a month for either one. Exactly a month. But when you get it back you'll get a one month free xbl card inside the box. =]

I ask because my ORIGINAL xbox isn't reading games very well anymore and I would like to fix it. Would it be possible to fix it without replacing the drive?

Also, DO NOT say shit like "ooo get a 360" because I already have one and I just want to give up on this champ... been running since Nov '01.

You can get it refurbished by Microsoft for $75, or you can get a new one, if you're lucky enough to find a Gamestop store that will sell them for $50 in stock.

I recently sent my xbox 360 to get repaired they said they have recieved it, I was wondering how long it would take them to fix the dvd drive if anyone has had similar problems. My xbox 360 basicly wouldnt even try to read any discs. Does aanyone know how long it will take to repair and will they just replace my 360 with a new one

They really don't "fix" it. The Xbox you get back is NOT the same one you sent them. However, if you have customized your console then you can ask for the same console back, but this takes more time.

1) You send them an Xbox
2) They look at your Xbox and make sure the problem is what you say it is.
3) They send you an already repaired Xbox while the one you sent them is still being worked on.
4) You get AN Xbox.

When my console broke this happened to me. It took me just under a month from when my Xbox broke till when I got another one. However, this was last year and I hear they are tying to speed things up faster.

Ok I have 2 problems

1. Being the drive it self, it does not work and I would like to replace it. Is it as simple as swapping it out?

2. The previous owner stripped the hex screws my guess would be because of lack of proper tools, anyone have ideas or suggestions around this?

The new DVD drive has to have the same firmware and keys and serial number as the old one so this has to be transfered over, this is called "spoofing"

I have some problems with my XBOX. It can't read almost any game. I'm tired of getting the "The disc you're using may be dirty or damaged" screen. That's the best scenario, cause mostly I get the XBOX menu screen when I insert a game. I'm changing my Drive, but I don't know which one to pick. I heard that Samsung is the best one. According to the images provided by the site...

Before you sink your money into a new drive. Try using a dvd lens cleaning disc They cost about $12. You insert the disc into the drive and as it spins it cleans the lens. If you have never cleaned it before run the cleaning disc twice, then try a game disc in.
