Samsung - Toshiba Xbox 360 DVD Drive

I need to replace my dvd drive for my original xbox? Could someone give me instructions or does anyone know a place that i can send it into and they can do it for me? Thanks

Goto to Youtube.com THen do a search for xbox dvd drive repairs replacement ..THere are usually a tone of tutorials with people actually showing you and taliking you through the process. It's not hard. It's just a matter of buy ing the right dvd drive.
If you are having disc read errors try a dvd lens cleaning disc first before you replace it. THey are only 12 dollars and run the disc a couple of times.

Will a Xbox DVD drive work in my current Xbox, even though the ROM version is different from the original 1?
The model of the DVD drive is still the same.
Thanks

If you are talking about the original Xbox, then yes, it will work.

If you are talking about the Xbox 360, then no, you'll need to flash your original drive key for the new drive to work.

How can I fix my xbox dvd drive?
My Desk - Take Two

I own a 1.4 versioned xbox. My dvd drive works well, there is just one problem. It doesn't play any form of audio. When a music cd is in it will try to read for about 2 mins., then a disk cannot be read alert will apperar. It will play games and dvd's flawlessly just not audio. What should I do?

Make sure your music CD is not scratched up too much. If it is you can buy a resurfacing kit at WalMart for about 20 dollars. If you are sure that the disk is not scratched (it plays fine in a cheap CD player) too much you will need a new DVD drive for your Xbox. You can find one on ebay fairly cheaply. The three most popular brands are Thomson, Philips, and Samsung. The Thomson is the cheapest at around 30 dollars plus shipping. The model number for that one is TGM600. I'm not sure of the model numbers for the other drives but with a little research you shouldn't have any trouble finding them. Replacing the drive is extremely simple, six to eight screws. You will need a Torx 10 and Torx 20 driver or driver bit. Directions are also available on the web. Just do a google search for 'Xbox DVD replacement'. Hope this helps.

What are some ways to repair an ORIGINAL XBOX dvd drive?
Wii & Xbox 360 HD DVD Drive

I ask because my ORIGINAL xbox isn't reading games very well anymore and I would like to fix it. Would it be possible to fix it without replacing the drive?

Also, DO NOT say shit like "ooo get a 360" because I already have one and I just want to give up on this champ... been running since Nov '01.

You can get it refurbished by Microsoft for $75, or you can get a new one, if you're lucky enough to find a Gamestop store that will sell them for $50 in stock.

  • First Hints at Blu-ray Drive Accessory for Xbox 360 | TheHDRoom

The inclusion of a Blu-ray Disc drive with Xbox 360 consoles has been one of the more popular on again, off again rumors since the format war with HD DVD ended. Every time a new rumor pops up, Microsoft in turn shoots it down.

The latest rumor, however, has a different flavor to it. Rather than coming from seemingly nowhere, its source is the mouth of Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer from an interview with Gizmodo . When asked if Xbox 360 would receive a Blu-ray Disc drive in the future, Michael replied,

Microsoft has been vocal in the past about touting digital download as the future, not disc-based media. At the same time,...
