Xbox Core

Is it just the hard drive? Is there any cosmetic difference between the two? Do the Xbox 360's use standard IDE hard drives or SATA, or some weird xbox-only drive? I was thinking i could buy some cores, slap some $20 IDE 80gb hard drives in em and sell them as elites? What do you think?

Well firstly the core has been discontinued and replaced with the 360 Arcade.

1 - The core has no hard drive. Elite has a 120GB hard drive.
2 - Core only has analogue output where as apparently the Elite has HDMI output
3 - The Elite is matt black. The Core is white.
4 - You cannot just use any hard drive with a 360 unless you feel like doing some modifications to it.
5 - Given the above slapping an 80 GB HD onto a core would not give you an Elite. 40GB short, no HDMI and not Matt Black.

I have an xbox core system and I heard that the arcade can't have netflix. Can the xbox core system have netflix?

You would need at least a 256 mb memory card to play Netflix.

The new xbox update is 128 mb download and the Netflix program is a 8 mb download. That would not leave much room on a 256 mb memory card for anything else.

Microsoft put up a support website for Core and Arcade users to get free memory cards and discounted hard drives. http://www.xboxstorageupgrade.com

As a core user you are eligible for a free 512 mb memory card or a 20gb hard drive with a 3 month xbox live card for $30.

You also need to be an xbox live gold member to use the Netflix instant watch. Xbox live silver members are blocked.

The Xbox 360 Elite have same amount or more processing power then the core Xbox 360? What are the differences between the two systems?

The black is a limited edition for one so it is a big deal plus it looks better. 120 gb hard drive and HDMI. The hard drive alone runs $179 and HDMI cable are extremely expensive. My tv is 1080i and it didn't have HDMI connections but I went with elite anyway because of the hard drive and that cable will cost a lot of money when I upgrade my tv in the future.

I am looking to buy a xbox 360 core console, which retails for 200 currently. I am just wondering if anyone knows if this price is going to drop in the near future.

The price will drop, it's just a matter of when and by how much.

There's been news that PS3's price will drop in order to beat the Nintendo Wii's sales.
With the Wii staying at the same price I think Nintendo will drop there price for a little while on both the Wii and DS Lite/DSi.

I think the Core model will drop to 179.99 in about 5 months to a year.

Imma trade in a xbox 360 core/arcade and I just need to know does gamestop give a reasonable deal cause I wanna buy some more games. I bought an elite xbox so I dont need the arcade.
