Xbox 360 three flashing red lights - what do i do?

I bought Fight NIght Round 4, put it into my xbox 360, and right away i got three flashing red lights, the xbox froze... So i unplugged it, and then it worked and i played the game for an hour or so.

The game is inside the xbox now, when i turned it on a 2nd time i got the three red flashing lights again. But this time they wont go away with out without the game.

Is there anything i can do? Can it be fixed?


Whatever you to do not try the old towel trick where you heat up your 360. That will cause more damage than good.

I have three red flashing lights on my xbox 360. whats up with it?


It has a known hardware failure.

Microsoft will repair your xbox for free if you have had it for less than 3 years. If you go to www.xbox.com and click on support you can fill in a form and they will either send you a box or shipping labels for you to send your xbox back to them. Turnaround time is likely to be from 2 to 4 weeks.

Yes I know it sucks, it happened to me at Christmas! But the repair process was fairly smooth.

Another option is to take it back to the store where you bought it. They may give you an instant replacement.

My xbox 360 pro has three red lights when the power button is pushed. controller 1, 3, and 4 flash red.



If anyone has encountered this problem before it would be extremly helpful for any suggestions on how to fix this problem.


RRoD dude. Microsoft extended 360 warranties to 3 years for this specific problem. 1-800-4-MY-XBOX to get started. They'll send you a padded box and you send it to them, and you'll probably get a different machine back that works. Just send them the console, no cables, HDD or anything.

what do you think my chances are of getting a refund for my xbox 360.. Its about two years old and has a hardware fault ie three red lights. microsoft are sending me the labels to send it off free for repair but im not happy, reading other peoples experiances it sounds like a long wait for a refurb box that is likely to go wrong again. With a hard drive.network adapter, two wireless controllers halo3 plus other games should be able to get a working ps3. thats if mr gates would give me my money back


u wont get ur money bk if u had it for 2 years, best thing is to send it offand get it repaired for free.
