I got an xbox three months ago and its working fine. Im just worried that it may break and that i'd have to send it in and stuff. I heard that it had a new jasper chip and stuff which lowered its percentage of failure. so im guessing the percentage went down. So basically what is the percentage of failure for the new xboxs?
0% =] well thats how mine has been doing.
Microsoft Confirmed 100% Xbox 360 failure rate, everyones xbox will get the ring of death "RRoD" there is no safe xbox , My xbox 360 Rant
I just bought an xbox 360 arcade 5 days ago. I am just wondering if there is still a chance i will get the red ring of death or some kind of failure with it. If by chance i do, what is the microsft warranty? Thx.
k thx, 360 still owns the ps3 even with its misfortunate problems.
the failure rate i heard was 2-11%

I heard a rumor that people are trying to gather up and file a suit or something against Microsoft?
Yes as people were getting a class action suit started, microsoft decided to stop charging people $160 to fix their 360s RROD and they extended the warranty. THey problem is they continue to sell Flawed systems that they know are flawed. That's why they are not publically stated that the New 65nm (falcon chip , Heat sink ) models and elites are going to be RROD free, it's because those knew things haven't been fixed because the problem isn't only the heat.
And if they were to state that the Red ring of death is fixed then they would be in for a bigger suit and they would be even more liable by admitting that all the other systems are flawed and should have been been recalled and replaced or taken off the shelves before they were sold to begin with.

Microsoft says its ~ 33%, but we know that's not the truth.
Well, having had the RRoD myself I think it is about 35%. But the funny thing to me is the failure rate for the PS3 is coming close to or maybe has passed the 360 failure rate. I watch the Playstation forums and the BD drives are failing at a fantastic rate. Do you think the Sony trolls will ever admit to that?
The Intercooler by Nyko is said to cause hardware failures in the Xbox 360. Is this true?
Yes this is true and here's why. The old Nyko coolers when plugged into the Xbox 360 actually used up the power from the Xbox 360 itself.
The Xbox 360 already has over-heating issues due to the system using more power than it's capable of withstanding. Add that with this external "cooler" and you have a great recipe for the Red Ring of Death.
What I did actually is got the nyko cooler, re-routed it to an external power source so that it doesn't use power from the actual 360 and it works great. Haven't gotten the Red Ring yet.

Survey: Xbox 360 Failure Rate Is Over 50%, People Don't Care ...
According to a new reader survey by Game Informer, the Xbox 360 suffers from a whopping 54.2% failure rate. That's an insanely high figure, but I can't say it seems that inaccurate. And you know what? People don't care.
As someone who just got his second red ring in as many years, is it really that surprising that about half of all Xboxes have shit the bed? Personally, I don't know a single person with an Xbox 360 who hasn't had to deal with it, so hell, maybe the 54.2% figure is generous.
Comparatively, the PS3 has a failure rate of 10.6% and the Wii is at 6.8%. But despite these numbers, gamers play the Xbox the most; 40.3% play it 3 to 5 hours a day, with 37% of PS3 owners doing the same. And unsurprisingly, a full 40.4% of Wii owners turn that console on less than an hour a day.
