Xbox 360 Cooler

Just wondering which would be better if I want to keep my Xbox cool. I'd think if I play it off the hard drive it would be cooler as the DVD drive won't be running, but then again it's going to be continuously accessing the hard drive. So, which one would be cooler?

I'm not certain, I usually play games off the tray and it heats up pretty quickly (based on feeling the machine) but today I was playing Fable 2 off the harddrive and the machine was running it for 5 hours and it still wasn't hot, so I would assume it doesn't overhead as much off the harddrive.

Don't make it overheat? People say taking of the back plasticc thing of is better? And is it ok to put my xbox 360 on a cardboard box#? any more suggestions?

Don't buy those fans that you attach to it, because they take energy from the xbox power source and thus make it overheat as well. Because you have to be careful of the xbox itself overheating AND the power source overheating, both can cause problems.

If you leave it in a well ventilated area, on a smooth surface that won't insulate the heat (thus no carpet or cardboard box, etc.) you should be fine. Make sure it's not in a dusty area, also make sure to dust off your xbox maybe twice a month. Playing in a cool room that has the A/C on would be fine as well.

i recently bought the xbox 360 pro. i have heard a lot about overheating and the notorious RED RING of DEATH....
so are there any coolers you would recommend. i saw one that is like a platform, i like that one the best so far.

The best way is to keep your Xbox horizontal and use a normal fan pointed at the back/right side.

If you really want a cooler, only use a USB or a One that powers it self because if it uses xboxs power it will give you RROD.

And is it better standing up the 360 or laying it down?

PLEASE ANYONE WHO HAS A 360 DO NOT BUY AN INTERCOOLER ESPECIALLY A NYKO ONE. IT RUINS YOUR XBOX 360!!!

Laying down. Do NOT BUY AN INTERCOOLER. Ruins your system and voids the warranty.

I once saw a pelican ar stand or something, it basically sucked out the hot air. Only option I know of W/ Out avoiding the warranty unless you rig something up, AS LONG AS IT DOSEN'T CHANGE THE 360 IN ANY WAY, like suspending it, in the air.., also keep the power brick suspended in air 24\7 helps much.


I once had ir hanging 5 ft off ground in a safe place and it helped.
