I bought an Xbox 360 with out the HDMI output and i'm just wondering if there is a Dramatic Change between the component cables and hdmi cables. Is it worth selling the console and getting a new one. if so, where do i do that for cheap?
depends on your TV. Some TVs don't allow a 1080p signal over component. If your TV is only a 720p resolution TV or if it accepts the 1080p signal over HDMI, then no, it doesn't make a difference.

This question is regarding my purchase of a new Olevia HDTV 32" (232v I believe). When I connected my Xbox 360 via the icluded HD Component cable, meaning that I connected the red, blue, and green video cables, along with the white and red audio cables to the component hookup, I recieved a signal in 720p like I intended. However, when I select the 720p resolution on the Xbox 360, the screen has a green tint to it. I was wondering if anyone knows of this occurance and any possible fixes. Thank you for your response. If you have any questions email me at tjcarlile@yahoo.com or tjcarlile@msn.com. Thanks.
Look on the HD compnet cable that is connected to the Xbox, there should be a switch that says some thing like Standard/HD flip the switch and you should be good to go.
Here is a little more step by step
MORE INFORMATION
Connect an Xbox 360 console to a high-definition TV
1. Turn off the Xbox 360 console.
2. Connect the audio-visual (AV) connector on the Component HD AV Cable to the AV port on the Xbox 360 console.
3. Set the HDTV switch on the AV Connector to HDTV.
Note Only set the switch to HDTV if the TV supports high-definition resolution, such as 480p, 720p, or 1080i.
4. Connect the red, green, and blue RCA connectors on the Component HD AV Cable to the corresponding color input jacks on the high-definition TV. Do not use the yellow RCA composite video connector.
5. Connect the red and white RCA audio connectors on the Component HD AV Cable to the corresponding colored input jacks on the HDTV.
6. Turn on the Xbox 360 console. From the System section, you can change your display and HDTV settings. Select the appropriate high-definition video setting for the HDTV.

I was wondering if the component AV cable that came with my xbox 360 can run 1080p.
Thanks!
Yes. Despite what people say, component cables can display 1080p. People will tell you that you need HDMI to display 1080p, but they're wrong. My brother-in-law has a 1080p TV, and we could play Ninja Gaiden Sigma on 1080p using the component cables.

I recently bought the Psyclone Component cables for the 360, but when I try to change the resolution on the console to 1080i (or any other resolution than 480), it says that I need to switch the cables from TV to HDTV. However, these cables don't have a switch (I'm assuming the official Microsoft component cables do have a switch of this sort)! So did I just buy some bum cables, or is there a way to get around this?
Sounds like a bum cable (if you are connected to a HDTV), the official Microsoft ones have that switch.
I have Radeon X300 series graphics card which has the component and s video hookups and I just put my xbox 360 component cables into the sockets but nothing automatically happens when i turn on my xbox 360 it doesnt switch the inputs how do i do this?
The component and s video hookups are to put video out to a tv, not in from another device,.

My Component vs VGA connection - AVForums.com
Hey guys. I know this has been beaten to death, but since Xbox has updated alot of its system software, I wanted to ask again. Which is better for a 42in Vizio plasma TV at 1080i, VGA or component? Now I have both connections already and can tell a difference. With VGA, my TV is operating at 1440x1084 pixels at 60hz (according to the website the computer res for the TV is 1366x768). The picture is great on movies and good with games. Colors are good but on games like CoD MW things look a tad bit blurry in the distance same with lettering, its not as white. Halo 3 looks like its was still in standard def though. Wolfenstein looked great. So I just wanted to know if im really getting true 720p...
