Xbox 3 Red Lights

Recently (while playing Halo 3 on my 360) my screen went white for the most part besides a few blue stripes. I couldn't see a thing so I turned off my xbox. When I turned it back on I got 1 red light on the ring of light and an error message (74). I call xbox support and they want to charge me $100 for repairs as I only have 1 red light not 3. To save myself $100 I want to get 3 red lights so I can get repairs for free. From what I've heard, xbox checks to make sure that the xbox has 3 lights. Can anyone tell me how to get the "Red Ring of Death"?

Play on it constantly and overheat it. That's one of the ways. And to be honest, when u bought ur 360, it should've came with a warranty. They are not supposed to charge u for any repairs. That's a violation of the warranty and MS Customer Support can get in trouble for that. Call them again and ask to speak to the supervisor.

Im thinkin about making a litlle money out of buying 3 red light xbox 360 and repairing them, then selling them. im not sure how much i should pay for a 3 red light xbox. any opinions?

That is indeed your video card. But, it can be fixed for around 10$ .... you have to solder some stuff on and whatnot but microsoft has directions for it. Get on the site and look it up. It's cheap if you have a solder gun. I will post the link for you later if I have time. But if you don't have a soldering iron, beerme is probably right, sell it for the controllers.

xbox red light freezing help.

Hi

The reason that this happens id down to the design of the Xbox 360.

The GPU and the CPU take too much heat and it causes the soldering to become loose on the motherboard. When this happens you will experience game freezes and eventually it will snap off completely and that is when you get the 3 red lights.

The good news is that Microsoft will repair it for you free but it can take up to 6 weeks to get it fixed.

I plug my xbox 360 in and the power pack light is orange straight away. Then I turn my 360 on and all the lights are green, and it starts to work and the menu comes up, then after about 10 seconds the screen goes blank and the 3 red lights flash on my xbox 360. Is this a hardware failure due to the power pack or the 3 red lights of death?

It could be the hard drive. I had that issue with the first unit I bought. I had to disconnect the drive and clean the contacts and then reinstall it. It worked for a while after that but the problem came back so I took it back to the store and swapped it out.

Hi, i have an xbox 360, and it has 1 Red light. But i want to get 3 Red lights.

The reason for this is that Microsoft will only fix my xbox if i have 3 red lights. So can you please tell me how to get the 3 red lights so i can send it off to be repaired. Thanks.

It's nearly impossible to force the red ring of death. Some people will tell you to try the towel trick, but that will only overheat the system and may not actually cause the red rings.
