To Play This Disc Put It In An Xbox 360 Console

The disc is in the 360 fine and it appears with this white screen of a message.(in the title) the disc is fine. if u do answer me can it not be by opening the console because i don't want to wreck it even more. can please someone give me some tips on how to fix this. (P.S. warranty is up and there has been no 3 red rings.)

Well, try cleaning it off with like a dry rag, this is happened to me before and usually once I did that, that screen didn't appear again.

I just bought an XBOX 360 on ebay and whenver I put a game into the console, I get the error that says: To play the disc, put it in an Xbox 360 console. I tested the console and it plays DVDs just fine. Does anyone know what the problem is?

I would say the drive is dying, but the fact that it plays DVDs is very... odd. I would first check that the disc condition is acceptable and that you're not using pirated games or games from the wrong system (hey, people do it...).

Otherwise, I'd almost suspect that someone tried to softmod the 360 and screwed it up just enough to kill authentication, but not enough to brick the drive.

Either way, if your disc is alright then it's a bad unit. Try to return it to the seller, and if he won't take it report him to paypal as refusing to refund a DOA.

When i startup my xbox360 with my DEAD RISING game, i get a white screen that says "To play this disc, put in an Xbox 360 console"

When i return to the dashboard, instead of saying "Play Game" on the bottom, it says "Play DVD". So, my xbox is reading the disc as a DVD?

What's wrong with my xbox?? I just got it a month ago!

On some games the xbox 360 drive won't be able to load the game automatically. It happened to others too. You may want to contact Microsoft support to let them know and see if they're working on a firmware update to fix this problem.

It means your Xbox 360 is reading your games as DVD movies instead of games. If it was one disc, I would say to wipe it. Since it's all your discs, I would run a dvd lens cleaner in the 360 first. Hopefully that will solve it. If not, it's time to call microsoft and it may need to be fixed. Good luck!

For proof, put a 360 game in any DVD player. You'll see the exact message you are getting now.

I have had my XBOX 360 since the christmas of 2005. I was one of the lucky ones not to ever have the Ring of the Death. I stopped using my XBOX for year and half - than when I began using it for the last month or so I get the "To play this disc put it in an xbox 360 console" message. I have only been playing new discs Fallout 3 and Oblivion - and yes I have cleaned them. The weirdest factor to my problem is that if I turn off and restart my XBOX ten - fifteen times it works. I googled what I can find and no one seems to have this exact problem. I was thinking it was probably my reading laser was dirty or something - I was just wondering if anyone could tell me what is wrong / what to do.

ok what i am thinking is like what you said it is a bad laser or and i mean a major or the disc track is off the first can be cleaned using a cleaning disc, the second, most likely a repair by microsoft.
