Microsoft Xbox 360 Wireless Controller For Windows

Basically, I'm getting a powerful windows 7 PC. I have a wireless xbox 360 controller. My keyboard for the PC is also wireless. Am I able to buy the Microsoft Adapter?
Are there any alternative controllers/adapters for Windows 7 PC that I can buy?
I have four xbox controllers. Is there a wired adapter that can connect directly to the PC?

Your XB360 wireless controller needs a matching transceiver for the PC side.

Just because your mouse and keyboard is wireless doesn't mean their receiver can tune into your controller. Get the Microsoft official adapter for PC.

Or you can get the wired one as the other guy suggested. I did.

I have a wireless Xbox 360 controller and the Microsoft wireless gaming receiver. I have installed the software for the adapter. I cannot however get it to appear under "gaming controllers". What do I need to do to get it to register to play my Microsoft games?

I have a Wireless Gaming dongle that Microsoft sells for the computer to use the Wireless Xbox 360 controllers on, but I can't get my controller to connect to it. Is it allowed to use the actual 360 controller or just special 360/Windows ones?
I can't get it to work.

It works with guitars, controllers, steering wheels, everything. To your PC a 360 controller is a 360 controller, there is no difference.

Ok so i have bought a wireless xbox 360 controller (they didn't have a wired one in stock) but i don't have an xbox im just using it for my PC, so ive researched this and it sounds like i have to buy the "Microsoft Xbox 360 Wireless Gaming Receiver" (could someone verify this?) or are there alternatives that don't cost me anything? (from my research you dont need a wireless adpter for the ps3 controller you just need a program so why does the xbox controller need one?)
so im tempted to buy that, but then. i was thinking of taking that a bit further and wondering how many controllers can connect to the "Microsoft Xbox 360 Wireless Gaming Receiver"? is it just the one hence do i need one for each controller i use? or as many as the game allows?

You need the receiver. The XB360 has a built-in receiver, but the PC does not.

can you use Microsoft Xbox 360 Wireless Gaming Receiver for Windows for xbox controller and then fully program the buttons on the xbox controller and have it assigned to certain keyboard buttons?
i want to buy it for everyday use of my computer not just games,

there is no software included with the receiver to natively map the buttons as far as I am aware. However I do know that a company has made a great piece of software called Pinnacle Game Profiler to map out game commands AND to emulate keyboard presses. Check it out:
