Microsoft Xbox 360 Problem

The 360 doesn't show the picture on the screen yet I can hear the sound but my TV guy who knows a lot about the set up of TVs only said it may well be a problem with the 360, Ive heard of the red ring but not this one. Cables are definatly connected and the TV is on the AV1 as it always has been - for some reason it just went off.

It's the RROD, just without the red rings! Basically the precursor to a full on RROD. I've had this too many times to mention. The GPU has probably lifted off the motherboard enough to cut the signal to the TV but not to show an error code.

MS have extended the warranty for a 3 red ring error so you could ring them and say 'sometimes it shows 3 red lights, other times it looks like it's working but no pic' then they'll fix it for you.

If it's out of warranty/been opened then I sell x-clamp replacement kits on ebay.co.uk for £4 + p&p which should sort the issue (has done for 1100 others!) All it is is 8 bolts, 16 washers, 8 spring washers and thermal paste to replace the rubbish thermal pad MS have. + an easy to follow guide which takes you through the whole process. And when the kit is fitted it bolts the heatsinks down so they can't lift off again like they do with the original x-clamps. Sorted! :)

Why can't Microsoft fix this problem instead of sending you a refurbished one why did't they send a recall out or something

Not including special packages.

They haven't found the exact problem yet....It's like finding a needle in a haystack...anyway they have made a change with the 65nm but they are not sure if that will help... When they do find the problem you can bet that they will announce it to the world in order to get sales up again....

Hi. I had an xbox 360 that died. You know i am talking about the ring of death. Yea. I couldn't fix it. Warranty was over. Anyway. I want to get another one that does not have these dame problem. Did microsoft solve this problem. Just want to make sure before i get it or i will go for the PS3.

Yes, you can say they did. See Microsoft changed the motherboard for the Xbox 360 a couple of times. The latests motherboard has the codename "Jasper". It uses less power & its cooler (no more overheating). But make sure to get the Elite or Arcade models. Now the tricky part is that some shops still have the old machines. Check for those two things:

1-The new Jasper 360 has 150-watt power supply, while the old one had 175-watt.

2-Look through the hole in the Xbox 360 box. You need to spot the number of amps used by the 12 volt rail, make sure they're 12.1A. You might not be able to see the whole voltage listing just through the peep-hole, but you should at least be able to see if a 14.2A or 12.1A is just to the left of the "5V".

In other words, buy 12V-12.1A and everything is good. Buy 12V-14.2A and you are getting an earlier model.

hey everyone, i know Microsoft just released a xbox 360 with a different chip in it, so the RROD problem will decrease, but do you think by NEXT summer (around June) they will have released any thing else? like a new system or a new and improved xbox 360, which won't get RROD? thanks! 10 Best answer

i just bought a xbox 360 elite which cam with a month of free live and 400 Microsoft points. I have typed in the code to get my points at least like 15 time i have typed it in corrected but it says this card isn't valid please use a valid card. Anyone have any reasons why this is happening and how to fix it

This has happened to my quite a few times. Try going to www.xbox.com and entering your code there. More often than not, I found that going through the website works better that going through the actual console.
