Microsoft Controller 360

What i try to do is use the charge and play kit to connect it to the the computer and i installed the software from microsoft. it doesnt work as a controller it says its a controller in devicemanager but in game controllers in control panel it doesnt detect it and i try it half life 2 it doesnt work so please help me

You can't you can only use wired if you don't want to buy the wireless receiver, the plug n charge kit does not transmit data over the wire, while the controller is charging it still emits the signal to the 360 wireless, to prove that, just plug it in to your computer and turn your xbox on.

The wireless receiver is only $20 where as a wired controller cost $40

Basically, I'm getting a powerful windows 7 PC. I have a wireless xbox 360 controller. My keyboard for the PC is also wireless. Am I able to buy the Microsoft Adapter?
Are there any alternative controllers/adapters for Windows 7 PC that I can buy?
I have four xbox controllers. Is there a wired adapter that can connect directly to the PC?

Your XB360 wireless controller needs a matching transceiver for the PC side.

Just because your mouse and keyboard is wireless doesn't mean their receiver can tune into your controller. Get the Microsoft official adapter for PC.

Or you can get the wired one as the other guy suggested. I did.

A wired controller has a USB cable so you would just plug that into your PC and use it from there. Or you can attach a play n' charge kit to a wireless controller.

I got a few questions on shipping my controller in to Microsoft.

I will be using my warranty on my controller I have. Will this take away my 3 year warranty on the Red Ring because I'm using it for my controller.

Also, will they send me some sort of package I will be able to use to ship it to them or will I have to buy one?
Also I'm using my xbox 360 controller that came with the xbox.

The RROD warranty is only meant for an xbox with the 3 red flashing lights. This will not use that up. Now if your 360 does red ring within the 3 year warranty, you send it in, then when you get it back, you will either get 90 days or the remainded of the 3yr warranty depending which is longer. This way you can make sure the console is functional that they send you and they can't screw you over.

So even if you do send your 360 in with a RROD, you still have time to send it in again in the event it happens again. Your warranty is 3 yrs, and that's that, no matter how many times you get to take advantage of it.

i had just gotten my xbox 360 back from being repaired but now my controller doesn't work. should i send it in to microsoft to repair it. my dad has an xbox 360 and 2 wireless controllers will one of them work on mine or is there something you need to install on the xbox in order to use it?

You need to re-sync your controllers to the xbox.
