I am looking to buy a device for my Wii Internet. I have seen the Wii LAN adapter, but my computer/modem is downstairs and my Wii is upstairs. Do I need a wireless connection to buy a Wi-Fi connection adapter? I am new to Wii internet, as you can tell.
You need a broadband connection and ONE of these setups:
1. A Wii LAN Adapter, a network hub (you may already have one if you have more than one computer in the house) and a really long Ethernet cable.
2. A wireless router (you may already have one of these if you have laptops in your house, or other Wi-Fi devices such as the iPod touch). Apple makes good routers, as do Belkin and Netgear. (Stay away from Linksys, I have had bad experiences with them.)
3. The Nintendo Wi-Fi USB connector. This is no longer manufactured, but you can probably score one off the Internet.
In this tutorial I show you how to Connect the wii to your internet connection And how to get 500 FREE WII POINTS through the connection ...
I've got a mobile internet device that plugs into the USB port on the computer. Can I plug into my Wii and connect to the internet? Or is this type of connection not possible with the wii?
Is there a way to connect my wii to the net with the usb device?
you will probably not be able to use a mobile device because there is no way to tell the Wii system what type it is ( most need a driver ) but what you can do is buy something like this

they have many types , this one is good but shop around, I have found one for as low as $10 bucks.
it is good to have in the event that the wireless in the Wii ever goes out , it's not likely but it could happen

I have a nintendo wii and a modem but I don't have high speed internet. will that effect my internet connection on the wii like make it slower?
In theory, you could use your Nintendo Wii with a 56k connection if you were to buy a Nintendo Wi-Fi USB adaptor, it would run very slowly incomparison to high-speed internet, but it would work.
