Playstation 2 Update

I usually download the PS3 updates from the playstation website but they still have the 2.43 update available. Does anyone know when they will have the2.5 update to download. I can't download it directly to my ps3 because it takes too long and I don't want to download. Can someone please provide me with some information on this? Thank you...

An update to the PS3™ system software was released on October 15, 2008. 2.5 is already on playstation.com

In update 2.4 for the Playstation 3 are the trophies going to be the same thing as XBOX 360 achievments? Like, will it be the same goals as the XBOX 360?

I would really like to know this, i know there is no cumulative gamer score based on the dificulty of the Trophies.

We will get 2D trophies under each game and then when Home comes they will go in the tropphy room too.

What i don't know is whether multi platforms will go have their achievments go across.

And whether they will be for boring stuff like completeing it or for fun random stuff too.

Turned on my ps3 this afternoon and found there was an update to be downloaded, i got a little excited about the possibilities of some new feature or something that would be included, until i visited the playstation website to find out.

"Main features in system software update version 2.76

* The playback quality of some PLAYSTATION 3 software has been improved."

wtf does playback quality mean? It's not like they were of a bad quality before so what's with the change?

Improves playback... mainly is related to the XMB (Home Screen). The thing I noticed was that the XMB loaded faster when you pressed the PS button while in a game. The Trophies load time has significantly improved even when you check it while playing a game.. The thing has minor changes.. As Sony said earlier, the update is just preparing the PS3 for the next major software update (whose features and date will most probably be announced at E3- June 2).

It just improves the stability of the XMB. There were a couple of time that my PS3 froze when I pressed the PS button... Hopefully this update fixed that (not freezing now).

is there any problems with update 2.50 as i do want my playstation to cease working again so i cannot download it unless i know its safe. so will someone tell me if there is any problems that happened with it. Thanks

The problem people were having the other day wasn't because of the firmware update. A lot of people are saying it was the reason, but it's just not true. The problem was the Sony servers were overloaded because so many people were trying to download and play SOCOM. That's why people only had problems getting into the PlayStation Store, and getting into online servers for SOCOM, Warhawk and other Sony server games. The 2.50 update is safe, feel free to download it.

My fault is that it doesnt play Movies anymore but still plays games.

And what is bricking?

Mine still plays movies, I have 2.40
