Playstation 2 Modification

I need to modify my PS2 so it can play the multi-format discs. does anyone know where I can find the PS2 chipset diagrams? or if there would be any forum providing some tips?

There are many forums that provide tihs, just search for PS2 Mod chip. There are a couple of You tube videos on it too.. Best thing to do is go to your local modder, and pay the $20-$50 installation fee and gfet it done right. Some of the solder points are really close together.

No. A computer has the files installed onto the computer, making modding the files on the computer easy, but you have to install it first. A PS2 reads the disk and that why you don't have to install anything, which is why you can't have mods on it. I know this because newer computer games are on normal DVD so you put it on your harddrive, while the X-BOX 360 needs a HD-DVD to read the HD. So PS2 is the same. Sorry :(.

Like the others said, buy a network adapter or one of the slimline PS2's you have to have broadband internet and then you simply plug the ethernet cable into the network adapter, and configure your network settings from the PS2's main menu. Contact your internet service provider if you don't know the settings required.

Well that depends.
If you got dial up, all you need a phone line and long phone cord to connect to your PS2 "Network Adapter", run the setup disk or internet setup that comes with most game and GO.
If you got broadband, it all depends:
If the modem and/connection is where your going to be playing at: all you need is cross over (NOT STRIGHT) cord to come from your modem to your PS2, run setup and go.
If the moden and/or connection is not, you can do a wireless newtwork bridge (check link) with either a laptop or desktop, or something like the Linksys WIRELESS GAME ADAPTER 802.11G.

Does the Playstation 3 have the same output connector as the Playstation 2? I just got component cables for my PS2, and then sold the PS2 before I got to use them. Can I use the component audio/video cables that I bought for the PS2 with the PS3, without any modification, and supporting 1080i output?

the ps3 can use the same cables the ps2 uses, though not in 1080i because only HDMI can output 1080i or 1080p signals.
