Playstation 2 Logo

my playstation 2 wont read a game. it shows the playstation 2 logo then just stops. someone please help me? this isnt my game and it will cost 50 dollars to buy it new and i dont have the money.

I assume that your other games work fine so this is going to mean that you probably have a dirty of scratched CD face. The best solution I have found is to buy a small container of Scratch Out from Walmart - it's in a yellow bottle in the automotive section and yes it is car scratch remover - costs about $3. just apply some to a soft cloth like a chamois and in a circular motion rub into the face of the CD until covered - don't be afraid to go over it a couple of times. Let dry and wipe off with a clean part of the cloth and bingo...readable game again.

Im not really sure what caused this but it can play my Mp3 CDs but it can't recognize my DVDs... How can I fix this?

After I insert the disc, it shows the 'Playstation 2' across the screen normally. Then it cuts to a black screen... still normal...
But the it just sits there. What can I do short of taking it apart? It's not under warranty, it's never been opened, and it hasn't been modded. It does this with all games. With DVD's it says "Play has been stopped due to malfunction" This is my 4th PS2 and I'm beginning to look down on Sony.
What's weird is that if I turn it upside-down, I can get to the first loading screen. But after the bar fills up, it gets stuck again.

Try getting a can of compressed air and spraying the heck outta the disc tray :) And poke the nozzle inside and give a good spray.

I have three Dance Dance Revolution (Which shall now be know as DDR) games: DDRMax2, Extreme, and Supernova.

Max2 and Supernova both work; Extreme does not. It will show the Playstation 2 logo and then it will go to an infinite black screen.

It worked once before. Now it does not work. What is the problem?

I agree with the guy above me. The PS2 has A LOT of disk reading problems. I would go buy a 360. Any your english is good.

One note though. The DDR games for the xbox and 360 kinda suck because they were made by the American branch of Konami and not the Japanese one.

i keep trying to play my PS2 game Spider-Man 2 and it was working a couple of weeks ago and stuff and now it wont work i tried alot of stuff so can sum 1 help me? like i put the disk in and it worked but after the PlayStation logo dissapeared it didnt do anything i waited like and hour!!! what can i do!?
i just got my PS2 and i cant aford a disk cleaner
and yes i rubbed alcohol
and where can i find holywood movie at? i live in baker county florida so...

I had a God of War disk that didn't play. I tried cleaning it, but still didn't work.

Try taking to Hollywood Video. (They can do a quick buff of the surface and remove any surface scratches; and they didn't charge me a single penny!)
