I want to play my new PS2 game (Final Fantasy 11), but it tells me i need to get an HDD. What is that?

I bought Final fantasy 11 for PS2, but i don't know what to do with it because it tells me i need to buy a Play Online account and get HDD (?). Do i have to have that in order to play the game? And if i do, how would i do that and how much does it cost?
It's definitely Final Fantasy 11. last time i checked X means 10 and I means 1. so when it says Finally Fantasy XI i assumed that meant 11.

Its the hard drive for the PS2. They are tough to find though because Sony decided to stop supporting it. Yay sony.

You do need it, as FFXI is an online mmorpg. These types of games continually have new content developed for it; FFXI has had 6 years of such additional content developed for it. This content is installed onto the hard drive. Without these patches, the game can't run.

Final Fantasy XI (11) questions for PS2.?

Okay, so I'm thinking about buying Final Fantasy 11 for PS2 I have the slim version of it (the special silver edition one if it makes any difference) and I need help. Before when I bought it I had my old big PS2 system and needed attachments to get it to work but it didn't. So since the PS2 slim has more stuff built in I was wondering what I need to make the FFXI work. Also I was wondering the monthly price. I have never played a MMORPG...ever though I've been dying to! So people keep talking about this monthly price and I was wondering if I could avoid it so that I don't have to pay it, and if I need to pay it at all. Thanks if you answer and help!

You have to pay monthly fees for mmorpgs, they range between $7 to $30 a month. Most of the quality ones are between $12 and $20 though. FFXI is $13.

You cant paly it on the slim ps2 because sony didnt include the right hookups for the PS2 hard drive... yay sony. You need either the old thick ps2, a 360, or a pc to play it.

Can you play Final Fantasy 11 on the thin PS2?

I just got one of the thin play station 2's and wanted to play final fantasy 11 on it, but my friend said that it wont work for some reason. He said because the hard drive isnt big enough or something? is this true? or will it work? i was going to borrow it from my friend to test it before he told me. If it doesnt work is there something i can buy that will let me play it on the thin ps2? thanks

Its not that the hard drive isnt big enough, its that sony didnt make the ps2 slim able to utilize a hard drive at all.

  • Final Fantasy X (PS2) « marzz's hideout

Yes… You did not read the title wrongly. This is Final Fantasy X, released in 2001!

The reason i am doing a review on this is because during my recent holidays, i replayed this game and still is one of my favourite games! In my opinion, i think FFX is the BEST Final Fantasy ever! I actually first played FFX god knows how many years ago…

Lets get to the game itself!

This game takes place in an alternate universe known as Spira.

You play as Tidus, a blitzball ace in his homeland. He is participating in a match with his team when his home, Zanarkand, was attacked by Sin, and transporting Tidus 1000 years into the future with Zanarkand being just ruins.
