All Playstation 2 Games

Hello! I'm just wondering if Blueray disks compatible to be used on all of the Playstation 3 (PS3)? As well can PS2 (Playstation 2) games be compatible with all models of the PS 3/Playstation 3? Thanks's for answering my question and have a great day.

Blu Ray discs can be played on any model of the Playstation 3.

PS2 games can only be played on the 20GB, 60GB, and 80GB PS3 consoles. The 40GB PS3 can NOT play PS2 games.

1) Dragon Quest VIII:
This is the first game I bought for PS2. Everything about it was great; music, graphics, and gameplay.
2) Final Fantasy X:
There's not really much to say. It's one of the greatest PS2 games of all time.
3) Tekken 4:
Always been a fan of the series and this game is my favorite.
4) Final Fantasy XII:
I don't own this game but I've played it and it's incredible.
5) Kingdom Hearts:
I liked Disney when I was really little and then they made an RPG of it!
6) Tony Hawk Pro Skater 3:
This is one of my first games and me and my friends had lots of fun with this game.
7) Tales of Legendia:
Man this game was ultra long!
8) Gran Turismo 4:
My favorite racing game and the best of all time IMO
9) Battlefield:
It's the only shooter I've played on PS2.
10) GTA San Andres:
Everyone knows how great this game is.

I've been searching for playstation 1 games for my kids and have noticed a lot of them claim to work in PS1 and PS2. I'm curious to know if I can buy PS2 games and if they'll work in my PS1?

No they won't, while the PS2 is backwards compatible and can play PS1 games, PS2 games can not be played on the PS1.

Why won't all my Playstation 2 games play? I have 9 games that won't play on my PS2 but they will play fine on my friends system.
The games are not scratched or dirty so what's the problem.
It also skips when I play movies even new one's .

If the problem is with the regular front-load PS-2, then the cause is actually dust accumulation.

The disc drive in these units are not isolated from the forced airflow by the exhaust fan, which exposes the disc drive to dust.

This dust contaminates two key optical parts inside the laser optical pickup: the objective lens (the lens you see when you look at the part whose function is to focus the laser onto the disc) and the fixed lens (the lens directly underneath the objective lens).

Many people recommend cleaning the objective lens but never the fixed lens underneath; both lenses must be cleaned.

However, you have also described that the PS-2 works with some games, which means that dust on the lens isn't the immediate cause; dust on the lens would virtually affect all games.

Dust does cause another problem on the disc drive: it can dry up the lubrication on the disc drive mechanics, particularly the kicker mechanism (the device that moves the laser pickup back and forth). Specifically, the dust gets on the sled rails that the pickup rides on and causes a mechanical bind, which jams the mechanism and also makes the characteristic "machine gun" clicking noise, which is the kicker motor's worm gear skipping teeth.

This problem is most obvious with blue-bottom discs than silver-bottom; silver bottom discs are DVD-ROM and do not require as fast a drive response in reading and seeking as blue-bottom CD-ROM to maintain high data throughput. Since the drive must work faster/harder on CD-ROM mode, a compromised mechanism will likely have more problems.

The sled rails have to be cleaned and *sparingly* lubricated with oil to fix this problem.

I'm thinking of buying Frogger for playstation for my kids. But my kids don't have a playstation, they have a playstation 2. will the playstation games work on the playstation 2?

Yes, it will work. Frogger... that's a fun game.. they will love it.
