Hi, I wanted to buy a PS3 but I need it to play all Ps1 and Ps2 games perfectly with no sound or graphic problems. Which PS3 or PS3s do this?
I have heard some play only certain games but i need it to play them all and have no problems with graphics or sound. Please discuss and help answer, thanks!
All the 60 gig models are compatible with ps1/2 games but those are hard to find. The 80 gig bundles also supported it. From here on Sony won't be making any more backwards compatible ps3's. The last 80 gig one was the North American MGS4 one.
NOTE: This is my second 100 PS2 games vid. Check out the original vid here: www.youtube.com This is also the original sound version of my second ...
Can you play all the ps1 and ps2 games with ps3 ?
Some of the people above are totally wrong.
The ONLY PS3's that can play ALL PS1 and PS2 games is the 20GB and 60GB PS3's because they have the Emotion Engine Chip in them
The 40GB PS3 can't play any PS2 games, but it can play PS1 games.
The 80GB PS3 can play MOST PS1 and PS2 games, but not all of them. The 80GB PS3 can play around 80% of all PS1 and PS2 games because it uses Software Emulation for backwards compatibility but not the Emotion Engine Chip and that's why it can't play all of them.

And do all the PS1/PS2 games work on computer without trouble?
I have a joystick and can all PS2 games be played on computer with my joystick?
The first thing that came to mind is that you could softmod
But I think thats only with an xbox
You probably know already that ps2 disks dont work in a computer. THe reason I think is something to do with how its written, lead in and lead out.
You will probably have to use an emulator. But I know that there are few around for the newer game systems. I havnt tried them but you can here:
http://www.emulator-zone.com/doc.php/ps2 /
Keep in mind the games you download are called ROMS.
Why do ps1 games work and not ps2 games(40gb)
Like it cost money to play ps1 games too, why not make it ps2 insted?
Because PS1 games need only some software to run, but PS2 games require some hardware from PS2. This increases manufacture costs.
I am going to buy PS3,but I heard that only 60gb version play all PS2 games. Which version do i actually need to play also PS2 games?
Only the 60 and 80GB can play PS2 games as they support backward compatibility

Secondly, make sure that you have GSDX (the graphics plugin) set to DirectX 10... DirectX11 settings are not intended for average use yet... It's very early, very buggy, and could be causing some of these problems. Plus, no nvidia card even supports DX11, so even if that option was developed, it wouldn't do you any good. Also make sure 8-bit textures is disabled. Secondly, make sure that you have GSDX (the graphics plugin) set to DirectX 10... DirectX11 settings are not intended for average use yet...
