Silver PS3

This boy in my class keeps sayin that he had a silver ps3 & i just know he's lyin i guess he thinks somebody's dumb cause he's like i had a black one when it first came out & then he's like he found out about the silver one & took it to walmart & traded it in & 3 months later they sent him a sliver one with like 100 gb in it. do u think he's lyin cause the silver one was never even released was it & i live in the usa so he didn't get one from japan or nothin like that
he said he had to add 100 dollars to it also

They are not making 100gb ps3's. Otherwise you have to replace the hard drive your self. I believe the Silver are not out yet and would obviously come out at Japan first before North America. But there will be a silver ps3 and on news there was the PS3 BOOMERANG controller. It was silver so definatly a Silver is gonna come out. I would rather of bought a Red ps3 in the future than a black one ;). Maybe I should just pimp out my black one and add a gangster gold necklace to it somehow.

What are the disadvantages of getting a white or silver ps3? I heard they cant play ps2 games because they are only available in 40 gb is this true? Are there any other disadvantages?

That's correct, as the they have a 40GB HDD, they will not play the PS2 games as they have no Emotion Engine, the only advantage they have is a slightly larger HDD than the original 20GB system(which you can't even buy any more) and they have a different color, if you feel you want that. The disadvantage other than the ability to play PS2 games is that it has a smaller HDD than the other PS3 systems available. However the newer models, with the exception of the 60GB, which I would suggest if you want to play PS2 games, do not play PS2 games at all.

PS3's only come in black in the US. There will be a special edition version of the Metal Gear Solid 4 bundle in gun metal grey, you should be able to get those at local stores when they are released (though you may need to pre-order to be sure of getting one).
