Rock Band PS3

I bought The Beatles: Rock Band PS3 disc and when I tried to start any part of the game, it asks me to connect a microphone. How can I play the game with using just a PS3 controller? In it necessary to buy a microphone, guitars and the drum kit? Please... Help!
Thanks for your answer... But are you 100% sure? Because I used to play Guitar Hero at my friend's place using only a PS3 controller.

They're 100% right.

The guitar-only games (GH, GH2, GH:80s, GH3, GH:Aerosmith) would let you use a controller in place of the guitar because the game didn't need to keep track of different instruments.

For the full-band games, the microphone doesn't have any controls on it, so a singer's mic is always going to be linked to a standalone controller. Because of this, when the game sees a controller, it figures you're going to be singing. To play guitar, bass or drums, you need actual guitar or drum controllers.

I was wondering that if I bought the Rock Band 2 game for Ps2 if the instruments from the first rock band game for Ps3 would be compatable.

I don't think so. You can't play the PS3 instruments with the Xbox, so it's unlikely that it will work with the PS2, especially since there's a major hardware and software difference between the two.

I own rock band for PS3 and I bought the stand-alone version of singstar rocks for PS2 as an xmas gift for my girlfriend assuming I could use the rock band microphone to play it. but with singstar in the console, it doesn't seem to recognize the rockband mic while it's plugged in. does anyone have more info on this?

I have the Wii rock band game and the drum set as well as one guitar and the mic. I was wondering if those would work with our new PS3 Slim if we get a rock band game for the PS3. They are just so expensive and I don't want to have to buy all new instruments for the PS3.

No, you can only use guitar hero and rock band instruments with the PS3 (for rock band or guitar hero) that were made created for the PS3. Sorry

I have Rock band 2 for the PS3 and I only have the drums. I lost my USB Dongle receiver which connects the drum set to the ps3 by plugging a wireless piece into the ps3 and pressing a button. I may be getting the rest of the band, does a usb dongle receiver come with the guitar and mic? If so, does it work for the drum set also?
