I just bought Rock Band for PS3 and for some reason I can't get the system to recognize the guitar. Is there something I should be doing?

I haven't been able to find the answer, which makes me think it's really obvious and I'm just missing something. Thanks in advance!
Thanks for the replies. I bought it on eBay, and the seller didn't include the wireless USB connection.

iff its the wireless guitar... make sure your plugging in the seperate USB cable into the front left of the system... that recognizes that is the sensor for the guitar, so that might help.
But if you've already tried that, try different USB ports. Blow both on them too, to clear all of the dust out that may also help it to recognize the guitar

i have a x box 360 rock band guitar ....its wired with a usb connection on the end. .
i have rock band for ps3 and i want to use my xbox 360 guitar on my ps3 .... when i plug it in nuthing happens though....please help.

It's not going to work, each controller set for each console has different inputs, connection type, etc, and won't cross over to another console

I have Guitar Hero I from my old PS2 which I love and was wonering if the PS3 Rock Band guitar was compatible with the GH1 software. I have an adapter for the GH1 guitar for PS3 which works, but would rather use my current RB guitars.

Also, if GH1 is compatable, is GH2?

The guitar hero 1 guitar is compatible with guitar hero 2 and rock band but sadly you cant use the rock band guitar for anything but rock band

I have had Rock Band on PS3 since Christmas and about two weeks ago, my guitar stopped working. I tryed new batteries. It still wouldn't turn on. I tried restarting. It still wouldn't turn on. But, the red light on the guitar would come on for like 3 seconds, and then turn off. So, I just got my new warranty guitar, and I'm having the same problem! Any suggestions?

Check the connection. Try pressing the button (that's little black one on the receiver that you plug into the PS3) and then press the PS button, I used to have the same problem then I did this and it worked.
