PS3 Slim

will the ps3 slim version coming out this fall have full backward compatibility? I was gonna get 80 gb but i read some rumors. Is the slim ps3 going to come out this fall 2009?

Should i get the 80 gb or wait for the slim?

along with the answer above, sony recently patented a technology to emulate PS2 games with the cell. it is likely that it will be backwards compatible.

what it seems like is that sony is waiting until nobody buys the PS2 then they will release a firmware update to enable backwards compatibility. it is entirely possible since the emulators are software and no extra hardware is needed. it actually makes sense in a business perspective since the PS2 generates more profit than the PS3 and if PS3 were able to emulate PS2 games then PS2 would be dying out quicker. i mean, look at this, PS1 games are able to run on PS3.

I've heard that the ps3 slim is smaller, lighter, uses less electricity, and does not have an on of switch on the back, and has a 120gig hard drive. Is there any differences in preformance? Why would anyone buy a ps3 slim if they already have a ps3 fat? Do they carry it around every day or something?
I just found out that the slim is not backward compatible. This means if your going to buy one, hold on to your old ps2, if it still works.

Performance wise, they are pretty much the same.
The PS3 slim attracts people because its 35% lighter & smaller then the fat PS3 and uses 50% less energy. Thin and smaller gadgets are in. It'll take up less space and has a bigger hard drive, as well as Bravia Sync feature. Less dust attraction, scratch marks, and fingerprints. Some people also like the new design over the PS3 fat.

I have a fat PS3 40gb and I probably will buy a slim during Christmas when there are bundles. I think all the things I listed warrants a purchase. Maybe not an immediate purchase, but an upgrade sooner then later. I'm 100% sure there will be a 250gb PS3 slim soon so be knowledgeable of that if you want to purchase one.

My 60gb ps3 got the ylod and i just bought a new ps3 slim. I plug it in and it has these white fuzzy dots on the xmb. You cant see them when your playing call of duty 4 but you can see them when your playing world at war. I just bought another hdmi cable but i still have the same problem. Should i go to best buy and get an expensive hdmi or will it matter?

You should go to Best Buy and buy a 360. Problem solved.

I have gotten the new ps3 slim and was using my hdmi cord and it was working perfectly. Just recently i brought it over to my friends house and had to use the rca/anolog cord and it didnt work. Please help me and give me some solutions. Thanks.

I don't know if it is the same with the slim but if you hold the power for around 10 seconds until you hear 3 beeps, that should reset the output to AV. Just so you know when you go to hook it back up to your HD tv, you will have to set up the HDMI again, so it will display that'

I am planning on buying a PS3 in the near future. I went on the Playstation Website and it says that the 120GB PS3 Slim costs $299 and the 80GB PS3 also costs $299. Are there any differences in performance or anything between the two making the PS3 Fat better?
