PS3 Not Working

Hi, My ps3 isnot showing any pictures but the sound is working fine.

It is using a hdmi cable and iv have just been out and bought another one and still having the same problem.

My ps3 works fine when using the yellow,red white cable.

Any ideas?

your ps3 may not be set to show in HDMI mode and that will be why the sound isnt coming through, set up the HDMI settings while plugged in with the scart cables.

I had the exact same problem only the other way round i set it all up HD and lost the picture so had to take my ps3 to my mates house where he has all the HD stuff and change it back so i could see lol.

My PS3 is connected via WI-FI to a BT Home Hub. Until recently I had a static IP address for it and everything worked fine. After some messing about with settings I can no longer get Upnp to work with a static IP address. An IP address designated by the router works fine however.

What should be my next step in setting up a static IP?

my question is why does it have to be static? You shouldn't need a static IP but if you really must then set the address to a ridiculous number that would not get picked up by the router. The problem sounds like your routers is kicking you off your IP to give it to something else. So insted of setting your last number on your IP to like 1 through 10 set the number to 239 or some random number that is not near the default gateway.

I have recently bought a Playstation 3 (Europe model, 60GB) I also have a HD ready TV and a HDMI cable, i have got the HD working on the TV and the picture is brilliant.

However i then realised there was no sound. i went to the sound options on the PS3 Menu, an error message apeard and it said " This HDMI Device cannot be used for audio output"

The HDMI cable sends both Visual signals and Audio, but only the Visual appears to be working.

Can someone tell me why this is? and does anyone have a solution to my problem?

sounds like your HDMI cable is faulty. Most of them are like that if they are cheap becasue they are rushed in the making. Try a more expensive one. HDMI are not the most reliable cable. I think componant is better.

Also, how often does a ps3 freeze or stop working?

DEPENDS ON IF ITS THE GAME I WOULD SAY YES CAUSE THEY ARE FIXING MINE

I have att internet and i want to have my ps3 working from my wifi from the att wireless that's on the system and i need to know the steps the codes and the number to hook my ps3 to my wifi connection

If you have the normal AT*T router (its a 2wire gateway) the SSID will be 2wirexxx (where xxx is the last three digits of the serial number)
The Security code - will be on the label of the unit marked security code followed by 10 digits or a brace sign [ ] with 10 digits between the braces.

You can also take your computer and log on to the control panel using http://192.168.1.254 or http://gateway.2wire.net then go to wireless settings and set your own SSID and Security code! You also need to seutp the ps3 to have access through the firewall on the router!
