PS3 only current Blu-ray player to support 3D Blu-ray ...

The title above may not be entirely accurate, but the PlayStation 3 is the only current Blu-ray player referenced by the Blu-ray Disc Association (BDA). The ability to support the new specifications, which requires sending a Full 1080p image to each eye, may be beyond most players currently on the market.

Today the BDA announced the final specifications for 3D Blu-rays, showing their intent to release 3D content in 2010. Victor Matsuda, chairman of the BDA committee, comments:

Throughout this year, movie goers have shown an overwhelming preference for 3D when presented with the option to see a theatrical release in either 3D or 2D.

We believe this demand for 3D content will carry over into the home now that we have, in Blu-ray Disc, a medium that can deliver a quality Full HD 3D experience to the living room.
