The MGS4 bundle is officially discontinued and most if not all stores are probably sold out by now. You can buy a 80 gig console with MGS4 for around $460 but without backwards comp and 2 less usb ports. Or if you need the backwards comp then you can go ahead and buy it on ebay.

I tried running Shadow of the Colossus and the PS3 didn't even acknowledge that there is a disc in the drive. Is there anything I need to do to get it to work, an update of sorts? Or is it simply not backwards compatible enitrely/at all?
Yeah, the 80gig has a ps2 emulator, which may not run games perfectly, but run most of them just fine.
The new one is actually the old 40gb in disguise, just 2 times the capacity....and the 40 cant play ps2 games.
the 60gb can play ALL PSX and PS2 games tho
How hard will it be to get an 80 gb mgs ps3 in the U.S? From what I've seen, they seem to be selling very quickly. Should I pre-order it, or just wait until it's released on June 12 and hope for the best?
There will be plenty of 80gb MGS4 bundles on June 12th. They are the official replacements to the Motorstorm bundle, so Sony is making a ton of them. You should be able to find one without any trouble at all. There may be a bunch of people getting it, but the lines aren't going to be quite as large as there might be at the original launch (If there are lines at all, which I doubt).
If you are talking about the limited edition MGS4 "gunmetal grey" PS3, then that will be harder to get. It will only be available on Konami.com and it is in very short supply. It's also only a 40gb and costs $100 more than a regular 80gb ($599.99 for the limited edition). I would just get the regular MGS4 80gb bundle.

So Solid Snake reaches the top of the communication tower and much to his surprise he finds Liquid Snake in a Hind D. Liquid intimidates Solid by saying:” So the Snake is finally out of his hole?” After that, the battle that ensues between the two is amazing. I still remember back in 2000 when I first played this game, it took me over an hour to take that Hind D down and man that was damn satisfying.
