Black PS3

My TV has 3 HDMI ports and an optical port out. Both the PS3 and Black 360 have a HDMI port as well as an optical cable out. However my receiver on my home theater system only has 2 HDMI ports in and 1 HDMI port out (no optical ports whatsoever). So how would I correctly hook this up so that I can get full surround sound audio, or do I need to purchase some additional equipment?

Since your receiver has no optical in thats ok. Hdmi carries video and audio. I would hook up hdmi to the receiver from your ps3 and 360 then a video S-video component or a hdmi cable for full hd to your tv then your be able to have surround sound through your gaming system

I have a new Toshiba 63" 1080p TV connected to a PS3 via HDMI.
When playing Blu-Ray movies, I get black bars on the top and bottom. Also, the quality of the film is not any better than standard DVD's? I've checked the setup configuration on the PS3 and most all display settings are on 'automatic'.
Any advice?

A lot of films use aspect ratios wider than 16:9. The black bars are normal. Also, make sure your PS3 is outputting 1080p, and getting your TV calibrated (using a calibration disc is a good idea, and some movies have the THX Optimizer on them for video calibration) in order to get the best picture possible. And I'd suggest watching an actual DVD and comparing it to Blu-Ray to see just how much of a difference there really is...

Okay, so when you first start up your PS3 gaming system, the background color is black. Now when you change your color to idk, lets say blue, there is no way to change it back to black? I've tried to change the color back to "original" but it ends up some urine yellow color which looks really gross.

Is there anyway to change it back to black without having to restore the PS3 system? Or is there a way to "custome choose" a color like black?
Okay I totally did not know that the color changes on it's own depending on all these factors. That's totally crazy...LOL I wish they would have put that somewhere in a manual or something. Do you have a website that backs up that claim?

If you set the PS3s background to the default color then the background will be different depending on the time of day. Wait till later or change the time on the PS3 and the background color should change.

The colors are also change around during different seasons of the year.

Example. In the winter during the morning the background may start of white and then slowly fade into a bunch of colors over the course of the day and end up at black during later hours.

In the Spring it may start of as a light green or something like that and slowly fade to black by the end of the day.

I go back to my starting menu on the ps3, and it is in colour there.. but on the game it is black and white, can someone help me with this? as i just recieved it from a friend, i dont want to waste it.

Sounds like your using a region game that your TV isn't capable of. For example, running a PAL game on a NTSC TV will run it in black and white and vice-versa.
