both games are completley diffrent
return of the king is a third person action game
the third age is a turn based combat game (alot like the final fanatsy games)
it is a matter of opinion i have played both and i enjoyed return of the king better.

IF SO HOW IS IT GOOD
In The Lord of the Rings OnlineTM: Shadows of AngmarTM (LOTRO), players can customize certain elements of the game's user interface (UI), also known as "skinning." While we don't allow you to do a full-scale UI replacement, we do give you the ability to replace selected visual elements of the UI. (A full list of these elements and their sizes is provided at the end of this overview.)
This is an updated (and prettied up) version of the information that had originally been posted in their Beta forums which we had copied to our Developer Discussions - Tutorials & Other Helpful Information forum. It is a combination of the Skinning the LOTRO UI and Art Assets posts.

I bought Lord of the Rings: The Third Age for gamecube from Games Stop. Will it wreck my Wii system? My mom won't let me use it because she thinks it will...
She also refused to let my dad use our VCR to watch a used VHS he bought for the same reason. Is there any truth to it?
No. There is no way it can wreck your system. The same thing goes for the VHS tape. The only thing that can go wrong is that the game (or VHS tape) won't work. But the system will still be fine.
If Game Stop/Eb Games would even take a game cube what would be the estimated price for a limited edition platinum(silver) game cube in mint condition + the games: Lord of the rings the third age, king kong, mario power tennis, narnia, baulders gate dark alliance, need for speed under ground 2, spyro a heros tail, crash bandicoot the wrath of cortex, Spongebob (lol), Tak and the power of the juju, The Incredibles, Spiderman 2, Simpsons hit and run, Call of Duty big red one, Tak 2, super smash bros melee, The Hobbit, Spyro enter the dragonfly, paper mario, Game boy player (attaches to bottom of game cube allows you to play gameboy games on the gamecube), Mad Cas foot pedals and steering wheel for need for speed underground, And two game cube controllers and a mad cats controller. Im saving for an Xbox so i have a long way to go. P.s no need to tell me these games are stupid I know haha :P i got them when i was little.
Yup they would.
I'd say 50bucks.
Sorry this is the truth.

The Lord of the Rings: The Third Age | The First Hour
And so we've come the the last game in the Lord of the Rings marathon . The good thing about this marathon is that it was much shorter than a Lord of the Rings movie marathon. Actually, beating all three games would probably take less time than watching the extended versions of the movies. Snarkiness aside, it would be a good idea to read the first two before venturing into this one.
After Return of the King was released, there was still enough hype about the Lord of the Rings movies to warrant releasing another game. Since the two previous games had already covered all the battles from the movies (and then some), EA decided to tap into a previously neglected genre: they released an RPG.
